building the future of sports games.

why WiLDKiND?

WiLDKiND was founded to reshape how players and fans connect with sports games. Our focus is on developing and publishing games for emerging sports ecosystems, beginning with the world of rugby and expanding to other underserved communities over time.

Our long-term goals are twofold:

  1. to serve the billions of players and fans around the world who enjoy emerging sports but have limited access to quality gaming experiences for those sports,

  2. and to create accessible entry points into emerging and established sports for new audiences

In short, we want to do for other emerging sports what Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater did for skateboarding.

Hi, I’m Zach. Video games got into my blood at an early age. Doctors tried for years to find a cure, to no avail.

I navigated a non-linear professional career from 2012 until mid-2022, starting with some indie dev and publishing work, followed by esports and tech and such, and ending in the content creator space.

..and this was followed by 17 months of trying and failing to land a new full-time role, until finally embracing the path that is now building this studio. Short version of that story: I ran a naked lap around a rugby pitch and it changed my life.

All that is to say the idea of “the kind of people who are wild” is fun in my eyes. We’re the outcasts, the iconoclasts, the doers, the fighters, the artists, the outliers, and the (good) weird — we’re WiLDKiND because it’s a fit for who we are and what we do.

WiLDKiND is a representation of what I want the industry to be. We’re building the studio with our people (our players, our developers, and our partners) in mind first, and I will fight to my last breath to ensure that never changes. I believe in a few core pillars that inform how we plan to operate and grow over time at WiLDKiND:

  1. Building compelling experiences for underserved audiences (particularly in the world of sports),

  2. creating an equitable distribution of opportunity to work on games,

  3. and growing in a sustainable way, meaning:

    1. our cultural development emphasizes retention of community, adapting to change, and upleveling our developers,

    2. layoffs are always the last resort,

    3. internal influence will always be the majority influence,

    4. outside capital is only accepted and deployed where it is warranted by the needs of the studio,

    5. and having the courage to say “no” to misaligned opportunities

If any of this resonates with you, please reach out — I’d love to talk with you about what we’re building here.
